Course Overview

This course gives you the opportunity to take a timeout from your busy day.

Mindfulness is about living in the present moment with an attitude of kindness towards ourselves. Most of the time our minds are lost in thought. We are either thinking about the past or worrying about the future. This can cause us to be more stressed than we need to be.

Mindfulness is very much a buzz word in the area of anxiety and depression management, but mindfulness has been around for many years, and is far from a fad. It is a scientifically proven way of dealing with stress, managing anxiety and controlling depression. It is also used in addiction rehab, and in the treatment of a range of other mental and physical illnesses. A phrase we like to use in mindfulness is ‘you can’t stop the waves but you can learn to surf’. So when you are going through challenging periods in your life, mindfulness can help you deal with any stress or worry you may be experiencing. It also offers you ways to bring more joy and ease to your life.

This course is for anyone interested in learning about mindfulness. It is also for those who have experience of mindfulness and would like to deepen their practice. During the course, participants will be offered a range of short meditation practices and practical techniques to help them to bring mindfulness more into everyday life. The classes will be light-hearted and relaxed.

Participants will also be invited to practice mindfulness everyday for 10-30 minutes everyday for the duration of the course, so before signing up it is worth considering how you can make time for home practice so that you can get the most out of the course.
