Floral Art / Flower Arranging
This course is suitable for beginners as well as more advanced flower arrangers. During this course, participants will learn all the skills, techniques, trends and secrets of the floristry industry. A range of styles, from traditional and classical to contemporary, will be covered and students will learn about different flowers and how to care for them. They will learn how to confidently create hand tied bouquets, table centres, pedestal arrangements, wedding and bridal floristry, corporate and event work as well as Christmas wreaths and garlands (Autumn Term) and spring arrangements (Spring Term). The classes will be a combination of demonstrations and practical workshops.
Typical Autumn Term Course Outline
Week 1 - Flower Care talk and the work of a florist; Hand Tied Bouquet Demonstration
Week 2 - Autumn Hand Tied Bouquets (practical workshop)
Week 3 - Arrangements – pots posies and simple arrangements
Week 4 - Halloween and Autumn Arrangements
Week 5 - Corsage and buttonhole techniques
Week 6 - Wild and Wacky – Corporate and event work
Week 7 - Wedding Flowers
Week 8 - Sympathy and Farewell flowers
Week 9 - Christmas Flowers: Door Wreath and Table Centres
Week 10 - Christmas Flower: Mantelpiece Arrangements & Garlands
(Weeks 3-10 include both demo and practical elements; Easter/Spring arrangements will be included during the Spring Term).
This course will be postponed / refunded if government restrictions prevent the course from going ahead.
Students will be asked to bring their own flowers and the tutor will advise what is required for each class. Oasis is supplied, students bring their own flowers. The class is small to allow for lots of individual attention.
