Salsa for pairs / couples
Course Overview
Start date Wednesday 19th January This course has been designed to accommodate pairs, allowing everyone to participate alongside people they are comfortable with or who may be in their "covid bubble". Salsa dancing, with it’s origin in Cuba, the meeting point of Spanish and African cultures has been around for many years. Though typically a partner dance, salsa can also take the form of lines and circles of dancers. Over the ten weeks of the course you will be thought the basic steps and the unique rhythm of Salsa. Although the experience will be very different online, the emphasis will be placed on fun, and you will even have the opportunity to get a good workout. Additional Information You will need to have a salsa partner that you are comfortable working with so you can form your own bubble within the class. Tutor Details Paula Donnelly II fell in love with salsa dancing in 2003, and after going through the required levels I became an advanced dancer and was trained to teach in 2005. It was at St. Colmcille’s that I taught my first salsa class which led to me becoming their longest evening class teacher to this day. I have taught in the Dance Theatre of Ireland and a variety of different places over the years which has given me extensive salsa teaching experience. Since the launch in 2006 I have been a part of the team which runs the annual Salsa Congress which takes place in Maynooth University. I thoroughly enjoy the interaction, connection and experience dance brings with new people, while delivering a fun lighted hearted environment for my students. |
