Course Overview
With 25 years of experience in knitting and knitwear design, let me share with you my knowledge, tips and love of knitting.
Maybe you are a beginner who is looking to take up a new hobby or a knitter who is interested in expanding your knitting skills and techniques.
You are all very welcome. Classes are relaxed, interactive and fun!
This friendly and supportive knitting class is perfect for adult learners of all levels — whether you're a complete beginner or looking to build on your existing skills.
Over 10 weeks, we’ll cover a wide range of techniques tailored to suit different abilities, including:
Casting on and off (with different methods)
Knit and purl stitches
Reading patterns and understanding abbreviations
Tension squares and their importance
Texture stitch patterns
Increasing and decreasing
Finishing techniques and sewing up
Colour work: Fair Isle & Intarsia
Lace knitting
Cables and Aran patterns
Picking up stitches
Buttonholes
Decorative finishes: Swiss darning, fringing, tassels
Pompom making
Lots of useful tips, tricks and confidence-building advice along the way!
There will be light homework in the form of small stitch swatches to help reinforce new techniques between classes.
Suggested Projects Include:
Twisted headband
Garter stitch cowl
Moss stitch or lace scarf
Winter hat or simple jumper
Blanket or cable cushion
Seasonal decorations
Materials for Week One:
Please bring a pair of 5mm straight needles and a ball of light-coloured Aran weight yarn.
Materials for personal projects will be discussed as the course progresses.

Having studied Fashion & Textiles at NCAD. I went on to teach knitting and knitwear design. I have worked with Tivoli, Kilcarra and Yoko yarns then establishing Cinnamon Designer Knitwear. My unique range of hand-knitted designer garments sold throughout Ireland and featured in many publications ie. Image Magazine, Irish Weddings, The Irish Independent and Women’s way.
I am a RDS Craft Award Winner and a finalist of The Irish Designer of the year.
In 2019 I was an ambassador to the Knitting & Stitching Shows RDS Dublin.
