Course Overview
With 25 years of experience in knitting and knitwear design, let me share with you my knowledge, tips and love of knitting.
Maybe you are a beginner who is looking to take up a new hobby or a knitter who is interested in expanding your knitting skills and techniques.
You are all very welcome. Classes are relaxed, interactive and fun!
Beginners: Tuesday 19:15 - 21:15
This course is suited to beginners or knitters with a little knowledge.
What I aim to cover during this 10 week course.
* Casting on and Casting off.. different methods… yarns and needle sizes
*Knit and Purl
*Reading patterns and understanding abbreviations
*Tension squares and their importance
*Texture stitch patterns
*Increasing and decreasing
*Finishing off and sewing up methods
*Introduction to colour and lace work
*Introduction to Cables and Aran patterns
*Pompom making
Plus lots of tips and knitting tricks!
There will be a little homework in the form of stitch pattern swatches to help expand your knitting knowledge!
Suggested beginners knitting projects:
- Twisted headband
- Garter cowl
- Moss stitch scarf
- A simple blanket
- Christmas decoration
Materials Required:
For the first night 5mm straight needles and a ball of light coloured Aran weight yarn.
Intermediate: Wednesday 19:15 - 21:15
This course is a follow on to my Knitting for Beginners course (Wednesday nights 19:15 - 21:15). Also suitable for Knitters that have a good basic knowledge of knitting.
What I aim to cover during this 10 week course:
*Colour Work / Fairsle and intarsia
*Learn how to read a colour chart.
*Cable Work
*Lace Work
*Picking up stitches
*Button holes
*Look at decorative finishes Swiss darning.. fringing.. tassel making!
Plus lots more tips and tricks!
There will be some homework ie stitch pattern swatches to expand your knitting knowledge.
Suggested knitting projects:
- Lace scarf
- Cable cushion
- Winter hat
- Blanket
- Simple jumper
Materials required:
Please bring along a pair of 5mm straight needles and a ball of light coloured Aran weight yarn.
Materials required for project will be discussed on the first night.

Having studied Fashion & Textiles at NCAD. I went on to teach knitting and knitwear design. I have worked with Tivoli, Kilcarra and Yoko yarns then establishing Cinnamon Designer Knitwear. My unique range of hand-knitted designer garments sold throughout Ireland and featured in many publications ie. Image Magazine, Irish Weddings, The Irish Independent and Women’s way.
I am a RDS Craft Award Winner and a finalist of The Irish Designer of the year.
In 2019 I was an ambassador to the Knitting & Stitching Shows RDS Dublin.
