Course Overview

During this 10 week class you will make a variety of items, and in doing so you’ll pick up an array of skills for working with a range of metals. Participants will choose their own projects, and can make anything from practical household items like candle stick holders, pedestals, bookstands and wine racks to more ornamental pieces such as model steam engines, aeroplanes and cars.

Over the course of the term, you will learn all the basic metalworking skills required for such projects. Decorative metalwork skills such as scrolling will be covered. You will learn how to use light bench tools and equipment as well as machine tools such as drills, milling equipment and lathes. No previous metalwork or engineering skills are required, but those who have some experience in the area will also be catered for. Projects can be chosen to suit your current skill level, and you will be able to work at your own pace in a fun and inspiring environment.
