Objective: Participants gain confidence to experiment using colour in their craft.
Who should attend: Anyone who enjoys craft or art and who would like to move from an intuitive feel for colour to a deeper understanding of how colour works.
Workshop Outline: We’ll use acrylic paints and paper / card to explore the colour wheel. We’ll experiment with tints, tones, shades and saturation, and with using colour to create the illusion of depth. We’ll discuss colour choices in making crafted objects.
Tutor: Joan Maher is a textile artist. Her textile art is based in contemporary patchwork, fabric printing and dyeing, quilting and embroidery. She trained as a designer in the National College of Art and Design, and holds City and Guilds qualifications in patchwork and quilting.
